This Spanish Easy Review grammar quiz will challenge you on conjugating ER verbs in the present tense. If you have already taken the Spanish Easy Review Conjugating AR Verbs - Present Tense (1) and Conjugating AR Verbs - Present Tense (2) quizzes you have become familiar with what conjugating means. Conjugating means to break the verb down in parts to form the correct verb spelling that goes along with the correct pronoun (I, you, he, she, we, they). When you conjugate, you take the base form of the verb and then drop the last two letters.
In other words, as we are dealing with ER present tense verbs in this quiz, if you take the verb 'beber' (to drink), you drop the 'er' which leaves you with beb.
Now we add on one of the present tense endings for ER verbs which are - o, es, e, emos, éis, en. These endings are added to beb as follows:
Pronoun | Present Tense | English Meaning |
---|---|---|
yo | bebo | I drink |
tú | bebes | you drink (familiar) |
usted | bebe | you drink (formal) |
él | bebe | he drinks |
ella | bebe | she drinks |
nosotros/as | bebemos | we drink (note the masculine and feminine forms) |
vosotros/as | bebéis | you drink (plural – familiar) |
ustedes | beben | you drink (plural – formal) |
ellos/ellas | beben | they drink (note the masculine and feminine forms) |
As you learned with the AR verbs, the conjugation of all ER regular verbs will be done in the same manner as listed above. Always remember to pay attention to your pronouns and whether you are dealing with a male, a female, a mixture of both and singular and plural familiar persons and/or singular and plural formal persons.
When you believe you understand how to conjugate ER verbs, move on to the quiz section. It contains ten present tense verbs in English with their corresponding pronouns. From the answers provided, determine the correct Spanish verb and pronoun that will match.
