Writing - How to Write Today's Date

In the Spanish Easy Review quiz series you learned how to say the days of the week and the months of the year. You also learned how to count. You needed to learn how to do each of these things before you could say and/or write out dates of the year. Therefore, this Spanish Medium Review quiz will give you the chance to learn how to write today’s date in Spanish.

In English if we are trying to say that it is the 5th day of June in the year 1998 we would say/write: June 5, 1998. The month comes first followed by the number of the day which is followed by the year. In Spanish, however, it is stated as the 5th of June of 1998 or: 5 de junio de 1998.

Again, notice that the month is not capitalized. In addition de is used to show possession. That is, the 5th belongs to June and the 5th of June belongs to the year 1998. It really is simple. In fact, in most foreign countries the date is written out as: day/month/year. In Spanish, however, you MUST use the de to show the possession.

Now for the quiz. You will be given ten dates written out in various ways stated in English. Your task is to locate the correct Spanish way of stating that date. Don’t forget spelling!
