Fascinating Fact:

un jardin means “a garden”, une terrasse means “a patio/terrace”.

In GCSE Fast French, “at home” vocabulary helps you talk about your house or flat, your neighbourhood, and what you do there. Knowing the right nouns makes your descriptions more precise, especially when you add articles and simple adjectives.

  • Noun: A naming word for a person, place, or thing, such as a room, object, or outdoor area.
  • Article: The small word used with a noun, like “le”, “la”, “un”, or “une”, which shows gender and sometimes number.
  • Gender: The category a French noun belongs to, masculine or feminine, which affects the article and other words around it.
What are French nouns for rooms and places at home for GCSE?

GCSE French home nouns include common rooms and places such as “la cuisine” (kitchen), “la chambre” (bedroom), and “la salle de bains” (bathroom). Learning them helps you describe your home in speaking and writing.

How do I know if a French home noun is masculine or feminine?

You usually learn the noun with its article, for example “la” for feminine and “le” for masculine. If you memorise the pair together, it becomes easier to choose the right words later when you add adjectives or numbers.

How can I describe my house in GCSE French speaking?
