Fascinating Fact:

un métier means “a profession”, une entreprise means “a company”.

In GCSE Fast French, work-related nouns help you talk about what you do, where you work, and what job you would like later. They are useful for role-play tasks, describing work experience, and giving opinions about school subjects and future careers.

  • Noun: A naming word for a person, place, or thing, such as a job, a workplace, or a tool.
  • Gender: In French, most nouns are masculine or feminine, and this affects the article and adjectives you use.
  • Article: A small word that goes before a noun, such as un, une, or des.
How do I talk about my future job in GCSE French?

Start with a job noun, then add a simple future phrase and a reason. For example, say what you would like to be, where you would work, and one short reason such as enjoyment, pay, or helping others.

How can I remember whether a job noun is masculine or feminine in French?

Learn the article with the noun every time, not the noun on its own. Making two lists, one with un and one with une, also helps you spot patterns and revise more quickly.

What should I include when describing work experience in GCSE French?

Include the place, your role, and a few tasks you did. Add an opinion and a reason, plus a time phrase such as the day, the week, or how long you were there, to make your answer sound complete.

In each question you will be given a word or words in English. All you have to do is choose the French equivalent from the four choices offered.
