Learn each place with its article, such as le, la, or l’. Endings can give clues, but the most reliable method is to memorise the article with the noun and check a dictionary when unsure.

What is the difference between “dans” and “à” in French places?

À is used for going to or being at a place in general, while dans means “inside” a place. For example, you can go à a town, but you are dans a building when you are inside it.
