Fascinating Fact:

“Le trajet” means the route or journey, and it is useful for talking about travel time and distance.

In GCSE Fast French, travel vocabulary goes beyond holidays, it helps you handle stations, timetables, delays, and directions. Learning these nouns supports speaking and writing tasks where you explain plans, problems, and how you got somewhere.

  • Itinéraire: A planned set of directions or travel plan, often used when organising a trip.
  • Correspondance: A connection, such as changing trains or buses during a journey.
  • Retard: A delay, used when transport is late and your schedule changes.
How do I talk about travel time and distance in GCSE French?

You can use time expressions like “une heure”, “vingt minutes”, and distance phrases like “dix kilomètres”. Add a simple verb, for example “prendre” or “durer”, to make a complete sentence.

What French words help with changing trains or buses?

Look for vocabulary about stops and changes, such as “la gare”, “le quai”, “la ligne”, and “la correspondance”. These words appear in listening tasks and in timetable-style questions.

How can I describe travel problems in GCSE French writing?

Use a clear problem noun, add what happened, and then say what you did next. For example, mention a delay or cancellation, then explain your solution, such as waiting, asking for help, or taking another service.

In each question you will be given a word or words in English. All you have to do is choose the French equivalent from the four choices offered.
