Fascinating Fact:

“Accueillir” means to welcome, and it is commonly linked to welcoming visitors, refugees, or new arrivals.

In GCSE Fast French, global issues topics often need action verbs, so you can explain problems, suggest solutions, and give your opinion clearly. Building a strong verb bank helps your speaking and writing sound more confident and precise.

  • Infinitive: The base form of a verb, like “aider” (to help) or “protéger” (to protect).
  • Near-future tense: A tense used for plans, made with “aller” + infinitive, for example “je vais agir” (I am going to act).
  • Opinion phrase: A set phrase used to introduce a view, such as “je pense que” (I think that), often followed by a verb.
What are useful French verbs for GCSE global issues?

Useful GCSE global issues verbs include “aider” (to help), “protéger” (to protect), “réduire” (to reduce), “soutenir” (to support), and “polluer” (to pollute). They help you describe problems and solutions.

How do you say “to reduce pollution” in French?

A clear way to say “to reduce pollution” in French is “réduire la pollution”. You can also say “réduire la pollution de l’air” for air pollution or “réduire les déchets” to reduce waste.

How do you talk about helping refugees in GCSE French?

You can say “aider les réfugiés” (to help refugees) and add a reason, such as “parce qu’ils ont besoin de sécurité” (because they need safety). For solutions, use “il faut” + infinitive, for example “il faut soutenir les associations” (we must support charities).
