Fascinating Fact:

It is normal for different people to feel different emotions about the same thing. Everyone has their own feelings.

In KS1 PSHE, pupils learn that emotions are part of being human and they can come and go quickly. Children can practise naming feelings, noticing body clues, and choosing calm, safe ways to cope. Learning to talk about emotions also helps children ask for support when they feel worried, angry, or upset.

  • Emotion: A feeling you have, such as happy, sad, angry, or worried.
  • Calm: Feeling settled and not rushed or upset.
  • Coping: Things you do to help yourself when you have a big feeling.
What are emotions in KS1?

Emotions are feelings, like happy, excited, sad, worried, or angry. In KS1, children learn to name emotions and understand that feelings can change.
