ICT stands for Ice Cream Tuesdays. Well, we wish it did. It actually means ‘Information Communications Technology’. Less delicious, but still pretty fun.
During KS3, you’ll have to use computers more frequently to produce your work. Technology moves fast and we’re all trying to keep up! To help you stay on the ball, most of the quizzes have a link at the bottom to the relevant BBC Bitesize page.
ICT is your chance to understand the key processes involved when it comes to technology and how we use it to communicate. Sounds dull? It’s not. It’s actually all the information that’s packed into your phone that makes it work the way it does. Now that’s important, right?
So, what kind of ICT stuff are you going to learn in KS3 throughout Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9? Buckle up, tech lovers, it’s going to be a data-tastic ride.
First, we’ll take a look at data - the capture, the input, the storage and more. Then we’ll whizz on over to the wonderful world of information and discover what makes different information reliable, valid or bias, before jetting off to the colourful land of processing images and text. Once we’re finished there, it’ll be a quick stop off at Web Processing HQ before a cup of a tea and a biscuit (we do love a good chocolate digestive).
Want to hear something even more exciting than biscuits? We won’t bombard you with boring books like ‘A 300,000 Page Brief Summary of ICT’ or ‘A Record of Every Communication Ever Made’. Nope. In fact, we’ll do the opposite. Rather than have you read absolutely everything surrounding ICT, we’ll just teach you the good bits. You know, all that core stuff from the National Curriculum that you need to understand. By using our quizzes, you can become familiar with the complex and joyous world of ICT, without falling asleep.
Clicking fingers at the ready, it’s time to get quizzing.
